Year 3 and Year 4

 In this unit, we looked at key passages from the Gospel of Matthew to understand how the teachings and actions of Jesus Christ reveal the meaning of the Kingdom of God. We examined parables and miracles, learning how everyday images like seeds and farming help explain God’s kingdom, while miracles show Jesus’ compassion and divine power. We were encouraged to reflect on our faith and how we can help build the Kingdom of God in our own lives. 

During one lesson, Matthew 8: 5-13 The Faith of the Centurion​ revealed to us that faith can come from unexpected places and means believing in God’s power even when we cannot see Him. It also taught us about humility and compassion. We wrote our own prayers based on the parable and how it will influence our behaviour and beliefs. 

  In this branch, we learnt about how Elijah’s life points forward to John the Baptist, who prepares the way for Jesus in the Gospels. We compared accounts of John the Baptist in St Mark and St Matthew, recognising him as the fulfilment of Isaiah’s prophecy and a sign that Jesus is the Messiah. We reflected that Jesus Christ is a King, who rules not with worldly power, but through love, mercy, and the promise of eternal life. Year 5 and Year 6

In this unit, we explored how the teachings of Jesus Christ fulfil the law given through Moses. We looked at the Transfiguration of Jesus, where Jesus is revealed in glory with Moses and Elijah and learnt about the Beatitudes as Jesus’ message about true happiness. We also explored parables such as the Parable of the Good Samaritan to understand love in action. We made posters to reflect our learning.

In this unit, we explored how Jesus Christ is presented as the Messiah in the Gospel of John. We learnt about the seven “signs” and “I am” statements such as I Am the Bread of Life and I Am the Resurrection and the Life, that reveal who Jesus truly is. We reflected on how Jesus invites people to trust in him and how these signs connect to the Church’s sacramental life, showing how God’s grace can be seen and experienced today.
